Roomies, split-consols refrigerated
“You need a specialist airconditioning
company to select the right brand,
size & model for your home and your needs. ”
Room located split system have grown in popularity in recent years.
They have effectively replaced the through the wall or window type. There
are three main types of room located split systems:
 |
High wall mounted split systems:
The most popular of all the split type refrigerated systems. Location
is generally on an outside wall to accommodate the condensate drain. |
Are there different types? Yes. There are two types:
- Conventional split systems
- Invertor split systems
 |
The Inverter Spit Systems are the latest in engineering
and are noticeably quieter and more reliable in the long term. Moreover,
the inverter technology delivers up to 36% energy savings over conventional
products.
Another comfort benefit of this technology is that they have eliminated
the annoying initial surge of cold air on the heating cycle which
is common to conventional high wall mounted splits.
Which system should I buy? The choice between
conventional and invertor is a choice between initial cost savings
or long term running cost savings. However, as a rule of thumb I
would recommend to install the invertor type where possible.
|
Can I have more than one high wall mounted split? Yes.
There are different ways to do this. You could have a corresponding number
of indoor units to outdoor units or have a multi head system. This is
where the system is designed with multiple indoor units and one large
outdoor unit that is capable of handling the load.
 |
Floor mounted console split systems:
Often it may be more feasible to locate the indoor unit at floor level.
In these situations a floor mounted console type is ideal. Similar
in many ways as a high wall mounted split system. Many people believe
they are more aesthetically appealing. |
 |
Ceiling Cassette split systems:
In a large open areas having the indoor unit located in the centre
of the room is preferable from both a comfort and aesthetics perspective.
