How
best to air condition my home!
Since I started GAS & AIR over 25 years ago, I have discovered that
comfort is such a personal decision and so dependent on lifestyle, family
size, age and budget. My belief is that it is far better to help people
source the right information than to try and make a decision for them.
The purpose of this web site is to help you do just that, this page will
basically explain the different types of air conditioning for you consideration.
By simply “clicking” one the “Types of Air Conditioning”
headings, you will move to another more detailed page. Of course, you
may contact us at any time for further assistance with your air conditioning
requirements.

Roomies,
split-consols refrigerated:
A single unit installed through the wall. Low purchase cost ($800-$1600)
for a single room application. Up from these are the heavily promoted
“split type”, i.e. the mechanical box placed outside
and the air delivering consol installed inside. Again these products
are intended for single room open/area situations. Anywhere from
$1200-$5000 installed and from 12 cents to 40cents per hour to run.

Ducted
Systems, refrigerated:
These are also a “split system” and manufacture air
the same way, but instead of the consol mounted on a wall, it is
mounted in the ceiling space. This allows ducting to be connected
so cool or heated air can be distributed throughout the home. A
unit sized home would cost approximately $5500 installed. A typical
4 bedroom 2 bathroom home from $8000-$10,000 with 30 to 60cents
per hour operating costs.

Incredibly popular and ideally suited to Perth’s climate.
Cool, clean fresh air is distributed throughout the home via a system
of ducts located in the ceiling space. Great for family situations
with active kids. Removes odours from inside the home Pets and indoor
plants thrive with these types of cooling systems. Low purchase
price from $3000 to $5000 and a low operating price of around 50c
a day.
